While there are other ways to estimate the bootcamp market, such as scraping LinkedIn, we’re concerned that these methods overestimate the market because students rarely report taking a bootcamp course. Affiliate or introductory classes are often not results-oriented, so including them in the Welcome Bootcamp market size creates a flawed view of the market. When measuring annual market size, we only include graduates of full-time, intensive bootcamps.

Coding bootcamps have different academic models than traditional universities, which allows them to meet the needs of different learners. Typically, online bootcamps will use pre-existing tools like Zoom Pro and build communities on Slack. Like their online counterparts, online bootcamps teach UX design, data science, and software development, with outcome-oriented curricula that include one-on-one instructor/mentor guidance, peer interaction, and targeted career coaching.
Self-hosted Online Bootcamps require less time per week (~10-20 hours) but take longer to complete. Typically, students complete coursework and projects on their own schedule and meet with a mentor several times a week. Many online schools also have an online community where students can connect with each other. A plus? You can enjoy the benefits of a bootcamp from the comfort of your own home, and you don’t have to leave your job at a high level. The software engineering career track from Thoughtful Engineering Flex and Springboard are good examples of self-hosted online bootcamps.
How To Pay For A Coding Bootcamp? Your Financial Options
Extraordinary coding bootcamps typically meet on nights and weekends. Students learn programming for a longer period of time (-96-9 months) and spend 6-15 hours a week in class and another 10-15 hours a week working outside. Students attend full-time bootcamps, usually full-time or part-time. The goal of a full-time bootcamper is usually to land a new job or get a job promotion, but some full-time students’ goals are to add new tools to their resume. For example, a Product Manager can take an off-the-shelf coding bootcamp to better communicate with employees at work. Salary: The average salary after an 8-week bootcamp is $58,248, compared to the average salary after a bootcamp longer than 16 weeks is $71,103. Web development coding bootcamps have historically been taught using Ruby on Rails, Full-Stack JavaScript, .NET/C#, Java, Python, or PHP. In 2020, Full-Stack JavaScript retained its position as the primary teaching language. 50% of courses reported Full-Stack JavaScript as their primary programming language. Not only are there new schools to choose JavaScript for the market, but established bootcamps are shifting curricula to emphasize JavaScript.
