Collaborative Learning – Cooperative learning is a learning method that involves students working in pairs or small groups to discuss concepts and find solutions to problems, so it has been successful in facilitating service-learning activities. This approach has gained popularity over the years as it strengthens critical thinking, communication skills, develops responsibility and deepens understanding of the learning process. But this form of education is evolving and has had to adapt to new ways of teaching in the digital age. We discuss this adaptation to online collaborative learning, as well as ways to implement this learning approach into your lesson plans below.

Cooperative learning allows students to interact, collaborate, and role play in their learning. This learning process can be facilitated with small and large groups using a variety of methods.

Co-education has many benefits. By engaging with students and creating learning experiences through these types of group activities, you allow them to develop deeper thinking, self-management, and leadership skills. You also hold students accountable for how and what they learn.

Cooperative learning has proven to be effective in physical classrooms. But digital transformation has created many new ways of learning and teaching. New technology and the Internet have allowed Cooperative Learning to adapt across distance and/or time barriers [3]. Students and teachers can now learn actively from almost anywhere in the world.

This trend has seen the adaptation of Cooperative Learning Methods used to teach students online in the form of online cooperative learning. Harasim defined online collaborative learning as a learning model in which students are encouraged and supported to work together to create knowledge: to invent, to seek ways to innovate, and thus to acquire the conceptual knowledge needed to solve problems; read what they think is the correct answer [4]

This learning method uses a variety of methods for students to work together and discuss online materials using a variety of communication methods such as video, instant messaging, email, or streaming platforms. This method is based on three main stages of conversational learning [5]:

One of the main goals of online collaborative learning is to get your students to interact with each other. This means that sometimes you have to be creative with your actions and add fun and exciting elements to create interactions. This online service works great in facilitating educational activities. These measures may include [7]:

Create a microlearning library – Give students topics related to learning services and ask them to prepare a presentation, blog post, or article on that topic. Students will have to research, study and discuss topics. Presentations, blog posts or articles can then be compiled into an online microlearning library and used as a resource by students.

Online collaborative learning methods create an innovative learning environment for students in the digital space. Even if a class is not physically together, lessons and discussions can be structured to facilitate deep academic learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. This learning method creates a sense of community and social interaction in the virtual classroom that fosters personal growth and development in students.

Overall, it can be seen that CL has many benefits, especially in online group work. This learning method not only improves teamwork and teamwork, but also helps people achieve their goals, become more responsible, or recognize their self-esteem in a positive way.
