Free Online Courses Zoom – The current crisis has brought rapid and dramatic changes to the world of work, and the world of online English teaching is no exception. Teachers are suddenly forced, under the circumstances, to adapt their skills to work online in live virtual classrooms with little or no preparation or training.
Most schools and teachers face this challenge and, ready or not, teachers have launched students into online classes using commonly used tools like Zoom or Skype. But now that the initial panic is over, we can take a closer look at the types of technology available for live online learning delivery and the type of training teachers need to be able to use these technologies effectively.

As for the virtual classroom platform, there are many free alternatives to Zoom and the one you choose may depend on your student’s access to technology, the delivery model you want to use and whether you see this as a short-term or longer-term situation.
If you already use Zoom and want something similar to ease the transition, then Jitsi Meeting could be the platform for you. It looks very similar to Zoom and has almost the same features.
WebRoom is one of our favorite free alternatives to Zoom and one that we use by choice. It was developed by the owner of the language school so that an understanding of the teaching and needs of the language students has been built into the design.
If you’re working with younger students or you want something more fun when teaching English online than a flat whiteboard type environment, then Mozilla Hub is worth checking out.

BigBlueButton is another open source project that has been around for quite some time. It can be used for free as a plugin for Moodle, you can host it on your own server, or you can sign up for a service called GreenLight that you can access through the BigBlueButton site and host your meetings there.
This is the easiest alternative to Zoom here and a good choice if you just want to have small classes and one-on-one lessons.
GoBrunch is an excellent resource if you offer large-scale webinar-type lessons as well as small class meetings when teaching English online. It is a free resource developed for the educational community and has some unique features.
I haven’t tried this alternative to Zoom with anyone, but I really like the concept. It’s a video conference room that opens in your browser and you can make yourself available to chat.
Online Course: Age Friendly Cities And Communities (in English)
Callaba is similar to Whereby. It is a very simple browser-based chat room that you can create directly without registering.
Xroom is similar to Whereby. It has some more features than Callaba.io and can also enable screen sharing.
As you can see, Zoom is not the only option when it comes to teaching English online. So get ready to try some alternatives to Zoom and try to enjoy your learning experience.

The English Language Institute (ELI) at the College of Staten Island offers free English classes via Facebook Live video and Zoom meetings. These free short sessions are offered to students around the world who want to learn or practice English. There are even sessions explained in Spanish and English together to help Spanish speakers understand the class.
Many English language centers around the world are closed and not many students have the opportunity to return to a live English class or have the means to attend online instruction. According to the British Council, two billion British students are expected in 2020, more than a quarter of the world’s population. Many students who want to come to the United States to study English have canceled their plans amid the COVID-19 health crisis.
Wd Live On Zoom!
ELI is switching the spring 2020 semester to online instruction. Students who have been studying English on campus are now in Zoom classes with ELI teachers. The big advantage is that they continue to have synchronous instruction and the same course. Every day, ELI teachers live with students covering topics such as reading, writing, conversation, and TOEFL preparation courses. Students from Brazil, Colombia, Chile, China, Germany, Guatemala, Israel, Ivory Coast, Japan, Pakistan, Peru, Russia, South Korea, and Ukraine.
ELI also wants to help students who are coming to New York this summer and whose English classes have been canceled in their home countries. ELI organized short classes on its Facebook page and Zoom meetings, and the first class immediately saw almost 1,000 views. ELI teachers will cover different topics each week and for different levels of English (beginner, intermediate, and advanced).
