I currently have many courses – you can learn more about them here. If you want to start your blog, or get more traffic and subscribers, or get email templates, you probably know your next step to take forward in your business, right? 😉
Taking courses and creating my own was one of the best decisions I made in my business. In fact, I plan to put a lot of effort into focusing on the courses in my business. Why?
Besides repairing and updating my courses, I don’t have to spend extra time selling extra copies of the course.
Also, once you’ve created your course, you can sell it to hundreds or thousands of students over and over again. This is a great scale!
Essential Equipment For Creating An Online Course (for All Budgets)
It doesn’t cost much to create an online course, other than getting course hosting software for teaching and, if you want, hardware to host the course content.
Compare this to affiliate marketing, where the owner of the affiliate marketer gets the majority of the profits.
Compare this to advertising or sponsorship, if you’ve been around for a while you’ll know that the sales and profits from courses far exceed what you get from advertising and sponsored posts for the same amount of traffic.
People are willing to pay a premium for courses if your course provides value to them. It’s not unheard of for courses to run into the thousands of dollars. Yes, you read this.

In the first step of creating an online course, write down 1 to 3 course ideas. If you have decided on a course topic, you can proceed to step 2.
Be open to different possibilities and stop doubting yourself. You don’t need to be a legend – often people buy courses from people who are a few steps ahead because they seem relatable and can understand their struggles.
For example, if you want to invest in stocks, you don’t need Warren Buffett to teach you. Instead, someone who is a few steps ahead of you can teach you and will do a better job than Warren Buffett.
How To Create An Online Course And Get Ideas For It
If you’re building an email list, send them a quick email and tell them how to build a successful business/lose weight/eat healthy/etc. ask to face your biggest obstacle/frustration/struggle.
You get the idea. You’ll be amazed at the results. Asking your listeners will give you tons of useful ideas!
Look for your competitors. If your competitors are selling something, it’s very likely that they’re making money. This is especially true if these competitors have been in business/popular for a while.
Of course, you’ll add your own twist to things later, and your positions will be different. However, the basic problem you solve will be the same.
How To Create Your First Online Course
I recommend doing a quick check on your course idea – make sure someone else has already sold the course.
Looking at what your competitors are selling will give you a fantastic opportunity to find out what your audience wants and buys.
In fact, if you have a course idea and no one is selling it, you should be careful!
It doesn’t have to be your EXACT idea, but it should solve the same big picture problem.

Once you’ve decided on your course, it’s time to get into the details!
I recommend starting with a smaller course for your first year. Because a smaller course is much easier to create, manage and sell. You can start from scratch in a very short time.
As a rule of thumb, I would keep it under 6 modules. Anyway, it’s important to remember that it’s not about the amount of information, it’s about changing the content of your course.
How To Make Online Courses Engaging
Coming up with a great course takes a lot of resources and time. You may have given up then! When it’s your first year, you want to adopt a startup mentality and start making money from scratch as quickly as possible.
What is the cost of your course? Decide how much the course will cost. Start with a price that is an accurate reflection of the value your course will deliver. You should feel good about your worth.
Don’t get hung up on the little details. The price, length and structure of your course can easily be changed in the future.

In addition to your course content, you need your course sales page to sell your course and collect fees, and to host your content and student logins.
I have used several course hosting software in the past, and the course hosting software I recommend and use can teach.
The best thing about Tutor is that it’s an all-in-one platform: It handles your sales pages, customer payments, has a built-in affiliate system, hosts your course videos and PDFs, provides the analytics you need, and more.

Basically, if you want to create and sell an online course, all you need is an Instructor and your materials, and voila! You are in business. Easy and noiseless.
If you’re on the fence about going with a Teacher, here’s why I use and love teaching, and why I switched to teaching to host and sell online courses.
There are so many reasons why I love Teaching, but I have to highlight the biggest ones:
If you’ve ever taken a taught course, you’ll understand that the user experience of the Instructor is truly unparalleled……and quality is something I pride myself on.

User experience, unlike functionality, is difficult for people to replicate. At every step of the tutoring experience, things are really smooth and professionally done.
The biggest reason I switched to teaching is because I want to create the best possible product experience for my students. I want my course students to be encouraged to use and learn from my course, which in turn will attract more people to join us. ?
And true enough, I’ve gotten compliments from my students about how much they love the new course platform, especially when they switched over a few months ago.
Happy students make me happy and reflect well on me. And also, from a business POV, happy customers are the cornerstone of a successful business.
