Dr. Gumma has over 14 years of teaching and research experience at IIT Guwahati. He holds B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, MS and PhD in Chemical Engineering from Cleveland State University, OH, USA. He was a visiting research professor at Cleveland State from 2003-2004. He has served as Vice Chairman of GATE 2012 as well as Chairman of GATE 2013 for IIT Guwahati Zone. He is also the convener of the JAM Syllabus Revision Committee. His research interests include development of nanomaterials for adsorptive separation, development of thermodynamic frameworks for gas adsorption equilibria, design and scale-up of industrial separation processes including amine adsorption processes for CO2 capture. He is active in drug delivery using nanoporous materials and has been highlighted by print and social media that his team is working on anti-cancer drug delivery. He mentors 4 PhD students and more than 20 Masters students. Currently 6 PhD students are under his supervision. Dr Gumma has co-edited a book on Fundamentals of Adsorption, (FOA8) and has 20 papers in reputed international journals and more than 50 papers in refereed conference proceedings. They have over 800 citations and an H-index of 12. Dr. Gumma has also delivered invited lectures at several international conferences. Dr. Gumma has served as a reviewer for more than 30 reputed international journals. He is a Life Member of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE), American Chemical Society (ACS), International Adsorption Society (IAS) and American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
